Women Stretch Beyond First Mate With TIBS Workshops

Women's Day 2020 posterWomen’s Day returns to the 2020 Toronto Boat Show – Sunday, January 19th. Designed to educate and empower women at the helm, it’s an entire day of seminars, workshops, on-the-water docking lessons and in-vehicle trailering sessions.  Last year’s premier event hosted over 100 women.

Jacqui, who attended the 2019 inaugural event, stated: “Women’s Day really improved my knowledge in several areas (anchoring, docking, diesel engine basics, knots) and built my confidence to be more than just “first Mate” this summer!”

Tammy Wolf will deliver the 2020 keynote “Overcome Your Obstacles & Turn Dreams Into Reality”.  Wolf is the first woman to achieve a podium finish in the F1 Champboat event, beating the odds to become a successful powerboat race driver.

Returning again are the ever popular hands-on workshops: Lisa Copeland on knots; engines with Yasmin Kolodziechuk and anchors and anchoring with Carol Gillstrom. There are also workshops on dinghies and tenders; boating with kids’ boating safety; tips on ‘sewing for your boat’ which works hand-in-hand with a workshop on personalizing or refreshing the interior of your boat.

There are two on-location events: Power Boat Docking and Maneouvring in the Indoor Lake and GetWomen On The Water - 2019- In the Lake Hitched! Trailing With Confidence in the underground parking garage. Both of these workshops have limited availability so book early to avoid disappointment.

And those are just some of the workshops. There’s also a Lunch & Learn panel discussion, prizes & raffles, a gift bag and end-of-day reception.

Built into the day, is loads of time to meet other women, ask questions, share stories and create communities that will live on outside this one day!

Women's Day End of Day photoRegistration is required, space is limited to 150 women and all sessions will take place at the Toronto Boat Show, Enercare Centre.
